You have a right for your maintenance report to be attended to and resolved!

If you have reported your issue via maintenance request and it has not been resolved, you have the right to report your issue to the Office of Environment, Health, & Safety (EH&S)  by reporting an issue and/or requesting a building inspection, among other action items.

Just like other housing facilities (like apartments, hotels, etc), there are certain conditions that are required to be met in order to provide a safe living environment, and EH&S can aid in upholding these requeirements.

How do I report my issue to the office of EH&S?

You can find step-by-step instructions for how to contact the Office of EH&S on our solutions page.

If you need additional assistance, contact us and we are happy to help.

What does reporting the issue to the office of EH&S do?

Reporting your issue that you have reported to the Office of EH&S makes it so that Cal Housing is held to a greater degree of accountability for addressing the issue(s) and making sure that your living space is safe.

Can filing a maintenance request or reporting my issue to the Office of EH&S be held against me?

No.

Maintenance is included in the contract you signed with Cal Housing. You will not get in trouble for asking for what you agreed to to be met.

If you file a maintenance request and your issue isn't resolved, you are within your rights to contact the Office of EH&S.
